Texas Jalapeño Ketchup, Seasonings & Bloody Mary Mix
Oven dinner
Thick pork chops baked in a glaze of honey, soy sauce and SpiceItUp! Jalapeño Ketchup. Five minutes of prep, an hour in the oven, and a sticky sweet-hot sauce to spoon over rice.
Most sweet and sour sauces need pineapple, vinegar and cornstarch. This one uses three things you probably already have: honey for sweet, soy for salty, and jalapeño ketchup for tang and heat.
It started as the hot sweet and sour pork chops in the SpiceItUp! collection. See the original recipe on spiceitup.com.
Heat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and grease a 3-quart casserole dish.
Stir together the honey, soy sauce and Jalapeño Ketchup.
Arrange the pork chops in the dish, pour the glaze over them and bake for about 1 hour, until tender and cooked through (145°F inside).
Spoon the pan sauce over the chops and serve with rice or mashed potatoes.
Scatter pineapple chunks and sliced onion around the chops before baking.
Simmer the pan juices with a teaspoon of cornstarch mixed with water.
Use boneless chops and start checking at 35 to 40 minutes.
Thick bone-in chops take about an hour covered in sauce. Boneless chops cook faster; check at 35 to 40 minutes for 145°F inside.
Yes. Mix the glaze up to 3 days ahead and keep it in the fridge.
With Medium Jalapeño Ketchup it is mildly warm. Use Hot for more kick.
